A Little Scare... Here and There

A few nights ago, my brother made me read creepy Japanese urban legends and of course... I was scared out of my wits. I mean, seriously! I almost peed in my pants. Stupid brother, I didn't sleep for two nights. -_-

But one of the good things about being scared is that it can inspire you to do a little art. ^^

So of all the stories, I found the legend of Kuchisake-Onna and The Girl from the Gap as the scariest of them all. Here's why:

Kuchisake-Onna literally translates to "Slith-Mouthed Woman". She is a woman who was mutilated by her husband, and returns as a malicious spirit. Read the rest here...
Well, she's definitely a piece of work. Hahaha ^^

So on my take on Kuchisake-Onna, I gave it a Silent Hill-ish touch... Instead of ordinary hand-held scissors, I opted to draw her with gigantic ones. Big enough that she actually drags it whenever she walks. I guess being able to imagine the sound of rusted metal scraping pavement gives a more eerie and dramatic feel. Oooh! O.O

This time I used my Ipad (With no stylus) instead of the traditional pencil and paper. Well, it's not that I'm totally converting to digital art but I think sketching in a more modern way is sometimes pretty awesome. Especially when "undo" is only one swipe away. Hehehe ^^

The Girl from the Gap  is a spirit living in gaps, between furnitures, doors or drawers.  If one day you meet her gaze, she will ask you to play hide and seek. Read the rest here...
She really reminds of the girl in the "The Grudge" movie. Doesn't she? Ooh-lala! C'est terrible! O_O

Okay, with this one I admit I wasn't able to make it as scary. I guess it lacks the darkness and evil in her eyes. Plus, I'm really bad at drawing hands and having no stylus just made it worse. Groan. -_-

So... Yah... I hope that didn't give you much nightmares. Hehehe!

Posting amigurumis soon. Weee! ^^
