Tale of a Candy Whale

This Christmas, I had the opportunity to give a gift to one of the women of our church and since she has a little girl I decided to make an amigurumi to hand over to her instead. Parenthood, where gifts are no longer dedicated to you. Hahaha!

It took me a while to figure out what I'd make, but I eventually decided to crochet a whale- Okay, scratch that! Not just any normal whale... I meant a candy whale named Babee. ^^

I used Stacy Trock's pattern for the base.

I tweaked it up a bit by crocheting it with candy-themed stripes and adding a big bow on top. You know, just to girl things up.

Needless to say, not only was the daughter happy but the mom was quite ecstatic. I was told she took tons of pictures and enthusiastically showed it to everyone at our church. Well, if that doesn't flatter you I don't know what will. Hahaha! Another ami recipient satisfied, a job well done. Yey me!!! ^^

  1. Hoping you can help me. I don't understand round 17 of the body. How can I sc 9 then increase 3 times and end up with 21 stitches?

    1. First you do 9sc, then for 3 times until the last stitch you increase then 2sc. So an increase plus 2sc done 3 times amounts to 12 counts plus the 9sc earlier is a total of 21 rounds. Did that help? ^^
