Lennon Giraffe

Baby Giraffe Crochet Pattern - Hooked on Crochet MagazineSo I saw this picture while browsing for my next project and my immediate reaction was... Want!!! ^^ I loved the pastel colors, how the spots were replaced by flowers and it's mane and tail in different shades. Next to cute, I thought it was really genius. Who would've thought to make a flower power hippie giraffe? I slow clap to your greatness oh creator of this master piece. ^^

Too bad though that it's on Etsy, and if it's on Etsy it's not free. Sigh! Another tag priced majestic pattern. -_-

Of course I felt bad, but after a moment something just clicked in my brain and the next thing I knew I was doing the Mr. Burns expression; rubbing my hands together while saying "Excellent". A diabolical evil plan that involves yarn.  How evil!!! Hahaha!

So with the giraffe pattern written by Marike van Loo and simple flower pattern by Jennifer Dickerson, I created my own flower power hippie giraffe and named him Lennon. Imagine all the gurumis. Yeah! ^^

I used the one round flowers pattern since for me it looked closest to the ones in the Baby Giraffe Toy. But if you don't feel like it, other flower patterns will do. Actually, there's no limit to how you make your giraffe... Change it's color, attach rainbows or stars, curl the mane, you can even put wings... Do whatever you think makes you happy. ^^

    1. You mean a video tutorial? Not that I know of. I downloaded the orginal pattern from Ravelry.com. Why? Are you having a hard time with the pattern? I can help. ^^

    2. Actually I am having trouble with this pattern as well. when making the body, is it suppose to get bigger on one side from row 29+?

    3. Yes, it will slightly get bigger on one side. No worries, it's forming normally. It's the part where the neck starts to form so it's suppose to have that rounded jar look. Try stuffing it and you'll see your progress on the pattern clearer. ^^

  2. "Round 1 In yellow, ch 6, 1 sc in second stitch from hook, 3 sc, 3 sc in last
    stitch from starting chain..."

Where do I stitch to do the "3 sc" after the "1 sc in second stitch from hook"? It doesn't mention what chain number to do that part in the pattern.

    1. Is this the pattern for the giraffe? What part are you referring to? ^^

    2. Oo I'm sorry. Yes, it's for the giraffe. and it's round 1 of the head. It is also mentioned in other rounds where it is "3 sc" by itself.

    3. I've done this a long time ago, I almost forgot how I did this. Hahaha ^^ Well, it's forming an oblong so it has to start with a chain. After the 1sc on 2nd ch from hook, do 1sc each for the next 3 loops. ^^

    4. Thank you. I had an idea of what to do, but it didn't look right when I started. It's working out fine now. Thanks again.
