Nautical Pete

Today my roommate's grandson celebrated his first birthday and had an uber mega-tastic bash. Of course I was invited, but sadly I had to take a rain check 'coz it's on the same weekend my nephew will celebrate his third birthday. Sigh! Life can have a messed up schedule sometimes. Unfortunate as it was, there was someone who was more than happy to take my place at the party... Say a sweet, dino sailor? ^^

For this project I reused Nicki Sandoval's dinosaur pattern as base. Remember my green yarn problem? That was how my sweet, cute Kaimon was born. Aaw! good times. ^^ So I tweaked it a little bit to have that maritime look, standing by the theme of the party: nautical slash under the sea. I named it Pete since it reminds me of the old Disney movie Pete's Dragon. I know the dragon's name is really Elliot and is not a dinosaur, but Pete sounds really cute and what's the difference? Both are over-sized lizards... Yah, that probably doesn't make sense, but I'm stubbornly sticking with Pete. XD

For the bow tie I used a pattern I found in a Spanish website. My background to that language is zero to nothing so I have no idea who wrote it.

But apparently I have enough to translate the pattern in English so yah, you're welcome. ^^

Originally, I wanted Pete to have the cute Smee look with the striped shirt and red hat. The adorable first mate. ^^ So I did the striped shirt alright, but at the last minute I decided against the hat and went with the bow tie instead. For some reason it didn't feel right... I have no idea why. Crocheter's instinct maybe? I don't know. I could be wrong, but as I see it, Nautical Pete is without a doubt the cutest sailor I've ever seen. Hahaha! I just hope the little boy I gave this to will think the same. ^^

Baby Chich

It's a long story and I'd rather not get into details, but a few weeks ago I came up with another Stitch pattern. I know right? Another one. Like I said, long story. So to mix things up a bit, instead of crocheting the usual Disney experiment I thought to make a baby version of it. I can't recall if this was the first time I made an infant version of a character, but since it turned out right I guess I have a good knack for making cute things cuter. Nice!

Anyway, I used this pic for reference... I'm not sure if it's fan made or official Disney merchandise, but whoever made this I consider you my "ohana". Shishishi! ^^
Look at those big eyes. Don't they just break your heart? Aww! -^.^-

Since I took off with a baby theme, I might as well give it a ridiculous name... Baby Chich. Now isn't that "adowable"? Hahaha! ^^

I was wearing my glasses when I took the pictures and thought "What the hey, might as well". Hehehe
So that's about it, my take on Stitch as a wee, cutie baby. I hope I did not disappoint. ^^
