Bubble Pop Chibi Cat

I don't think I've ever done an amigurumi inspired by kawaii kitties... So out of whim, I just came up with this bubble pop chibi cat using Silvia Usón's Chibi pattern. ^^

*Cut strands of Mint about twice the length of the doll
*Follow my often used hair tutorial to attach the strands on the hair cap
*Use the pet brush to untangle the yarn to make finer hair
*Cut the hair to any preferred style. I chose long hair with side bangs ^^
*The pet brush is optional... To be honest, it's a really tedious task that requires a lot of arm muscle and I meant a LOT. It will really take time before it gets that silky, fine texture. So you really have to be committed if you want to use the pet brush, otherwise the yarn hair look is never a bad option ^^

Not bad for a sudden light bulb project, huh? ^^ To be honest, I have tons of amigurumis lined up and I set them all aside to make this cutie kitty. I guess I was that stressed out that I had to momentarily escape my already laid out plans for the whole month. Nothing to relieve stress than to be spontaneous and care-free, even for a little while. Sigh! Well, this definitely hit the spot. ^^

Pusheenicorn

Recently I've been invited to join a group of crocheters in DeviantArt called Amigurumi-Challenge and of course, I was more than happy to oblige. Honestly, I didn't think that my amigurumis would gain this much recognition so I was really quite surprised.

They see me...

Like the name of the group suggests, Amigurumi-Challenge holds amigurumi-making contests every month for their members. So this January, they held the Strawberry Moshi Contest where the bunny pattern from Amigurumi To Go was used as base. The rule was to make something different out of the pattern without completely changing it.

So after psyching myself with one of Barney Stinson's words of wisdom: "CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!!!", I went on to figuring out what I wanted to do with the bunny pattern.

Initially, I wanted to make 3 little pigs like the ones in Disney but immediately dismissed the idea after realizing that would be flat out boring. I mean, piggies are cute but I don't think it would cut it especially after someone submitted chibi My Little Ponies. Seriously! What could be better than the Mane 6? That idea was right on the money and I wouldn't be surprised if it won. Who could beat its cuteness?

I was already rethinking of joining when suddenly... Light bulb!!! 

The popular cartoon gif "Pusheen the Cat", came into mind. But it gets better... After checking out its website: Pusheen the Cat, I saw one of the most majestic things to ever exist on earth. It's not a cat, not a unicorn... It's a PUSHEENICORN!

Is there anything more beautiful? Sob! Oh damn! Now it's making me cry. T3T

MANE/TAIL
*Use Deep Sky, Honey, and Ballet Slipper for the mane and attach to the back
*Trim uneven or out of place strands
*For the tail, cut 4 strands each of Periwinkle, Mint, and Ballet Slipper that measures about 4-5 inches 
*Put the strands together and secure in the middle, then stitch at Pusheenicorn's bottom

Win or lose, I'm just happy that I joined... Okay, maybe for a teeny-tiny bit I wish that I'd win. What? I'm just human. ^^ Ooh! Can't wait for the results. O_O

===> So the contest ended Jan. 31 and the winners were announced I think Feb. 1 or 2...  Anyway, I didn't win. Aww! X_X It sucks but hey, I did have fun and I'm glad that I did the contest otherwise I wouldn't have Pusheenicorn. And with that... I feel like I've won. Aww! It's the little things. Hehehe -^.^-

Monster Hunter Buddies

My little brother's a big fan of the game Monster Hunter and he just loves playing it so much. He like goes into nirvana when he gets his hand on the PSP. Hahaha! ^^

So he asked me to make him a key chain sized Poogie in watermelon costume which he said he will attach on his PSP. Nerd turd! Hahaha! I love him. ^^ Okay no problem... I Just need the Ideal Sphere pattern by Emily Premise-Conclusion.

As a umm... Semi-semi beginner, I advise you to always have this around, anytime, anywhere 'coz it's the most helpful thing when making amigurumis. It's the best pattern to make perfect heads or reference for making other shapes. Seriously awesome. ^^

*Initially I used the #57 - Caterpillar and #54 - Lettuce yarn for the watermelon suit but it wasn't accurate to the actual Poogie. So instead of Caterpillar, use #100 - Raven with Lettuce. ^^

After I finished Poogie, my little brother asked me again to make him a monster hunter key chain and this time of the cat, Melynx. Of course this was more of a challenge since it had more complicated parts, but being such a good sister, I gave it a shot anyway. So I made a prototype and yeah... That didn't go so well. It was a CAT-astrophe! Hahaha! Get it? CAT-astrophe? I mean... I... Never mind! -_- It was actually so bad that whenever I see it I could hear its tiny, meowy voice saying "Please... Kill me. Kill me now!". Yikes!  

Anyway, it took me more than six months to find the perfect pattern but thank goodness I did... A tiny cat key chain pattern by Pierrot Gosyo with a bonus pouch or cozy pattern for naked cellphones. How thoughtful. ^^

Of course I tweaked it a bit to make it look like Melynx and I'd say I delivered. Couldn't be happier with the result... Except maybe I forgot to write it all down. Yup! I got too excited and went on a crocheting frenzy. It was already too late when I realized it. Humm-dumm... -_- Sigh! C'est la vie. Well, at least I took pictures. Hehehe! ^^

Tee-hee! ^^ My little brother still loved it nonetheless and just attached it to his bag since it's too big for the PSP. Nerd turd! Hahaha! ^^
