Anyway, during those months of workout and shedding of tears, sweat, and blood... There was one exercise that my roommate and her friend despise the most. I mean if they could they'd avoid it like the plague. Hahaha! I'm talking about the "bear crawl" and as the name suggests, you get on all fours and walk like a bear. The only thing missing is the roar, but sadly you're not supposed to get that crazy at the gym. Shishishi! XD
After a while, my roommate's friend affectionately called our group the "Care Bears" since according to her, we look like actual bears when working out. My roommate loved the idea so much that she asked me to make amigurumi bears to represent each of us. Okay, first of all I don't completely agree that we should be called "Care Bears" 'coz we don't do the bear crawl upright nor do Care Bears do quadrupedal walking. So to correct the misnomer, I decided to use the actual walking position of a bear to make the amigurumis and call them

Are you expecting 2 single crochet in each of three stitches, or is there some other method you are using? Thanks so much for posting this lovely item for the world!

ReplyDeleteOh, you start with the chain technique. I'm familiar with that one but never really use it. I always start with a Magic Ring (MR).

DeleteIt's worsted weight and the only yarn I ever used. I guess you could experiment with another brand. The only difference I could tell you though is Monaco Yarn seems denser and less likely to unravel compared to Red Heart. Of course, that's just me. ^^

what type of beads are you using for the eyes? Are they the little jewelry seed beads? The only things I find around where I live are jewelry beads but they have little holes in them and I can't tell if yours have holes
ReplyDeleteYes, they're jewelry beads and in the smallest size I could find. I just angled the beads (the holes facing sideways) and pressed it down firmly when gluing so the holes could be hidden in the folds of the yarn. ^^

ReplyDeleteHi Hannah, I'm sorry to hear that but unfortunately I don't sell my amigurumis. I'm not thinking of turning this hobby into a business any time soon. Even if I did, I don't think this will only cost 2 or 3 dollars since it's an original pattern plus my labor fee. Also if we're not in the same country then shipping fees will be extremely expensive since this is not a bulk order. So for me, I find this more costly to buy than actually making it.
DeleteDo you need this for a gift? What country are you from? Because from where I am (Philippines), the best quality yarn (Monaco Brand) in my opinion costs less than a quarter dollar. If I'm not mistaken, I think they export their products to other countries.

ReplyDeleteIt's Monaco's standard 4ply acrylic fingering yarn. I think this is their only size. Well, they have another brand called Apple, but I've never seen one in stores. So the usual Monaco acrylic will be just fine. ^^

ReplyDeleteOh right... It means you do 3sc and 1dec for 2 times, then 4sc, after that 1dec and 3sc for 2 times. If you add it all up the stitches should be 20.
DeleteWhenever you see a pattern enclosed in these: [] and have this "x", it means that you do the same pattern for a certain number of times. For example [1sc-dec] 3x; so you do 1sc and dec for 3 times.
